Secure and Confidential
OnlineProfessionalCounseling.comSM
uses a computer client, which deploys 192-bit encryption [algorithms].
Synchronous (or live) text and voice communication is peer-to-peer (or
PC-to-PC). Typically, communication exchanges are not triangulated
or routed through designated relay servers. For added security, the strong
encryption is always on--neither online professional counselors nor
clients can deactivate the built-in encryption.
A peer-to-peer mode is altered under two conditions: 1) when
non-synchronous counselor-client messages are exchanged; and 2) if the
bandwidth of one or both parties is insufficient to support peer-to-peer
communication. Notwithstanding these peer-to-peer exceptions, the 192-bit
encryption is applied to all exchanges between clients and professional
counselors during both communication modes (i.e., peer-to-peer and server
relay).
The computer client we have selected is used in different configurations
by the U.S. military, intelligence personnel, and [the U.S. Department of]
Homeland Security. Our selection of a very secure communication system
reflects our unwavering commitment to confidential (and in some cases,
privileged) communication between clients and counselors. (Our
OnlineProfessionalCounseling.com clients can use, without cost, the secure,
peer-to-peer computer client we have selected to manage counselor-client
interactions.)
Note.
OnlineProfessionalCounseling.com grants that no online or offline security
system is absolute. Notwithstanding, we think that an electronic
communication system based on 192-bit encryption provides sufficient
security for confidential (and privileged) communication.
